Mesquite Police Fourth Annual "Project Blue Light"

December 4, 2018

Beginning December 1st through the 31st, the Mesquite Police Department is asking all residents and business owners to join them in the Fourth Annual Project Blue Light. This national program is a way to express support for your local law enforcement personnel and to honor the brave and dedicated officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting communities throughout our nation.

The concept is simple. Place a blue light in your window as an expression of support. Other options include replacing an outside garage light with a blue bulb or stringing a blue rope light around a tree or bush. light around a tree or bush.

Blue lights can be purchased at Ace Hardware & Mesquite Lumber. For every Blue Light purchased, Ace Hardware & Mesquite Lumber has agreed to donated one dollar to the Mesquite Police Department for Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S), a national organization that supports the families of officers killed in the line of duty. Walmart has also agreed to stock a display of blue lights.

Mesquite Gaming & the Eureka Casino has joined the Project Blue Light program and will be placing marquee announcements at their properties.

Again this year, a "Beacon of Blue" light will be displayed at City Hall. This special spotlight will illuminate a 30-foot beam of blue light over City Hall's Christmas Wreath to demonstrate the City's support of Blue Light.
